Mikela Bond

Mikela Bond lives in Suffolk with her husband and two children.  She studied English Literature with Creating Writing at UEA and is a teacher and a writer of novels and short stories. Mikela loves to write about the East Anglian landscape in which she grew up; it can be a beautiful but bleak place – the perfect inspiration for crime and thriller plots.

Her debut novel, The Hollow Hours, explores family secrets and the destruction that they can cause. It was the runner-up in the Novel London 2022 competition and won the 2023 New Anglia Manuscript Prize. Mikela won the Felixstowe Emerging Writers competition in 2022 with her short story Port & Lemon, which was published in Suffolk magazine.

When she’s not writing, parenting, or teaching, Mikela can be found walking by the sea with her family and their spaniel Nelly, or curled up in a sunny spot with a good book – most likely something dark or ghostly.
