We aim to provide the best author care in the business, whether our writers are based in rural England or metropolitan Lagos. We make the following commitments to our authors:

i) To be open and accessible, and to support authors as they navigate the publishing world – from providing high levels of editorial support and helping authors develop their own literary networks, to lobbying for childcare at literary festivals. 

ii) For the agency to revolve around the needs of authors, rather than the needs of the agency. 

iii) To support authors with children or other caring responsibilities who may find it difficult to find time and space to write. 

iv) To develop partnerships which will benefit authors and magnify the work of the agency, as we are already doing with Blake Friedmann and the National Centre for Writing.

v) We have a commitment to supporting independent publishing in Africa. We will encourage authors from Africa to retain African rights and to publish with independent publishing houses across the continent.

vii) In solidarity with Ukrainian authors and publishing colleagues, Laxfield Literary Associates will not trade with Russian publishers until the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
